Therapy is a place that people go in order to slow down, to reflect, to talk through, process emotions, and to check in with themselves on a regular basis. Some people go once a week, while many will go multiple times per week. This always depends on what makes most sense for you. As a therapist, I want to get to know you and what you are dealing with in your life. Sometimes, life may appear fine on the outside — maybe you have the personal life you desire, maybe you’re successful in your work, or one of those two at least, and other areas of your life may appear the way you want — but it still may be difficult to feel happy, fulfilled, or satisfied. Or, sometimes life just isn’t lining up the way you have hoped, and emotions are struggling in the midst of this. Life in general can just be hard, stressful, and like a chore at times.
In therapy, we will have the conversations that you want to have while helping to bring you more in control of your life emotionally and in any other ways you’re looking for. There’s room for change, on the outside and on the inside. There’s room for difficult and painful conversations, as well as humorous and positive conversations as well. Therapy is a space where your needs are the priority and you don’t have to take care of anyone else’s needs or expectations.
