There are a variety of reasons that people start into therapy. As a therapist with a number of different specialties, people tend to reach out when obstacles show up, either in life, or internally. For example, if you’re feeling emotionally like you’re struggling to become grounded and are often stressed, anxious, on edge, or noticing that anxiety is becoming a more common companion than a once in a while visitor. Or, if depression, panic attacks, or phobias are showing up or are limiting your life. I also work with fear of flying (often referred to as flying phobia or flying anxiety), agoraphobia, and panic. The discomfort people feel when struggling with these issues can feel out of control and like their body is running away with them at times.
People also start therapy and counseling when they start to experience symptoms of old (or recent) trauma or traumas showing up — such as migraines, headaches, and IBS, for example. The body can experience intense and foreign sensations when struggling to process emotional distress, even from experiences that happened a while back.
I also work with Grass Is Greener Syndrome and relationship issues (for individuals). If you feel your relationships are struggling, or if you’re struggling to settle down, commit, or are always looking for better (perfectionism), causing you to start over repeatedly in relationships, career, where to live, etc., these are all things that can bring people to therapy.
As a therapist, I aim to provide a safe and welcoming space for painful and personal life struggles you bring with you. I value going at your pace and not trying to push you any further than you’re ready to go. If you’d like to see if we’d be a good match to work together, contact me today.
