Therapy for Residents of Washington, D.C.

When your mental health is struggling, it can have an impact on all areas of your life—even in areas that used to function generally well. If you’re already prone to anxiety, depression, panic attacks, phobias, or otherwise, these symptoms can often become more intense when things are out of balance. Even if you’re not prone to certain symptoms or struggles, when mental health is suffering, it can introduce things you’ve never experienced before to become an issue now. This can be anything from anxiety, depression, migraines, and body pain that doesn’t seem related to a medical issue, all the way to relationships becoming unsettled or strained, or even newly experienced phobias such as fear of flying and agoraphobia (or can reactivate previous fears).

In general, if the mind and body are holding or trying to manage too much—whether it’s stress, recurring thoughts, old traumas, grief, etc.—eventually, everything in life becomes affected even to the point where functioning daily can start to feel overwhelming or like you’re on autopilot or shutting down. It can be very hard to enjoy life when it feels like there are things in the background not being addressed, or not being sufficiently worked through and resolved.

Therapy is a safe space where you have the room and control to express feelings, sort through thoughts and emotions, reflect, create change, and lighten the overall mental and emotional load that life brings. We will work together to help you heal and move forward. Reaching out is the first step.
