Psychotherapy and Contemporary Psychoanalysis

Therapy is a safe, supportive, and open space for you…

I offer therapy and contemporary psychoanalysis for people 18 years of age and older. For those who haven’t heard the term, psychodynamic therapy is the type of psychotherapy you usually hear people refer to for exploring deeper emotional and relational patterns that have developed over the course of your life. Some refer to it as “talk therapy”, however I find this term a bit deceptive as more happens in therapy than “talk therapy” really implies. It is generally a reflective process where we talk about anything of your choosing, as we sort through your life challenges in order to develop awareness, reflect on your experiences (past and present), and explore and process through emotions and thoughts that have been carried with you over time. Through psychotherapy, you can become empowered in taking control over your life as you work towards organic change.

There are so many schools of therapy nowadays, and people are often confused about what type of therapy or therapist is going to be the most helpful for them. I am an integrative therapist, with a base in psychodynamic and psychoanalytic therapy, so I bring knowledge and experience with drawing from various types of therapy, as is useful, to personally tailor your therapy to what you are struggling with.

If you struggle with depression, anxiety, intimacy or relationship issues, phobias, migraines or chronic pain, and more, the therapy we would do together addresses all of these issues. If you are looking for something that I don’t work with or needs a different type of approach, I would help you find a therapist who would better fit your situation.

You’re welcome to reach out to me if you’re interested in starting therapy and we’ll discuss what you’re looking for together.

Our Work Together

In addition to psychodynamic and psychoanalytic therapy, I have experience working with elements of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and somatic therapy, as well. These are brought into the work as can be helpful in helping to integrate the mind and body. It is also okay if you don’t wish to utilize somatic or mind-body therapy approaches. As a psychotherapist, I range from fully psychoanalytic and “talk therapy” with some people, to therapies that incorporate some of everything, drawing from various schools of practice. Everything we do in our process together is based on your needs and what would be most helpful for you.

It’s common to begin therapy aware that something needs to shift within yourself and/or in your life, however you may not fully know what needs to change or where you’d like to end up yet. The path generally becomes illuminated organically through the process as we settle into our work here together. As we engage in a process of self-reflection and discovery together, we are able to help you become empowered in various areas of life that may otherwise be obstacles, and therefore help you become more in control of your life. Reach out to me if you have questions or would like to discuss what you’re looking for.
